BBC Radio 1 Picture Message Day - minus 8 Print E-mail

On Monday 30th November the MDA announced its collaboration with BBC Radio 1 and the UK Mobile Network Operators to produce a free picture messaging day, on Friday 11th December, aimed at Radio 1 listeners as part of the BBC Access All Areas initiative and supporting the government’s Digital Britain roadmap and the desire to help more people to use more of their phone’s facilities for the benefit of themselves, their family and friends.

In the 4 days since the Press Releases went public:
*  The Release has had 384 downloads from Business Wire, the news information service.
*  The MDA’s Getsettings website (linked from the BBC Radio 1 home page) has had over 74,000 hits from 2250 separate sessions.
*  The get-settings-from-the-networks-own-website pages have been accessed 540 times, the handset settings page 472 times and the DIY settings page 229 times.
*  Google ‘BBC Picture Message Day’ and there are over 4 pages of references from various trade and other magazines and newspapers.

Links to the day and to getsettings can be found on
The Radio 1 home page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/

A BBC Radio 1 video clip is also readily available from their home page and provides a quick demonstration on sending picture messages.

The FAQ page on getsettings provides a quick introduction as to whether or not your phone is set up for / capable of sending picture messages.

The day is shaping up to be a great success and the MDA looks forward to continuing support for the mobile user with the getsettings.org website now and in the future.
