E-publishing, devices, consumerisation and behaviour all scrutinised at Meet The Analysts event London, October 20th 2011: The expansion of mobile data in all its forms was reflected in a diverse spread of presentations at The Mobile Data Association’s (MDA) “Meet The Analysts” event in London on October 19th.
Mobile industry experts from CCS Insight, Juniper Research, Deloitte and Quocirca each examined the development of different technologies within the space.
Promoted jointly with the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, the MDA hosted an afternoon of interactive presentations which delivered data and analysis of emerging mobile data technologies.
Paul Lee from Deloitte explored network connectivity issues and the significance of Wifi on the use of smartphones and new tablet devices; Martin Garner from CCS Insight concentrated on attitudes towards tablet devices, as well as the Apple-dominated market; Windsor Holden from Juniper Research focussed on the evolution of digital and mobile publishing, claiming that mobile network operators have no role to play in the space; and Steve Reynolds of the MDA examined the Consumerisation of IT with the assistance of data from Quocirca.

The event was warmly received by attendees.
“As ever, the MDA Market Analyst Event provided an excellent overview of the latest trends and forecasts, as well as great networking.”
“Because we design bespoke mobile technology for corporates, knowing about data consumption trends, tablet usage trends and the 'consumerisation' of mobile is very important to our business. A very informative and enjoyable session, highly recommended.”
“Extremely thought provoking and forward looking session based on solid market research!”
“Excellent – perfectly placed content.”

Mike Hawkes, Chairman of the MDA, said: “As a whole, the afternoon confirmed how the mobile data landscape is increasingly shaped by a range of different technologies. Connectivity will always be critical but use of technologies can vary massively, from applications and the mobile web, to tablet devices and e-books”
