Company profile: Broca Communications floated on AIM in March 2007 having previously been a division of 2ergo plc, the AIM-listed provider of convergent mobility solutions.

Broca was set up as a company to commercialise the patented communications protocol bought by 2ergo. The Broca Protocol is a unique method of cyclical encryption for digital communication. While it will ultimately provide applications across a range of communication environments, the company has chosen to base its first products upon SMS due to its ubiquity and continuing popularity among consumers globally.

Secure Advanced Message Service (SAMS) takes traditional SMS and enhances it so that the world’s most popular mobile data product will now support m-commerce. SAMS harnesses the immediacy of SMS, in an enriched and encrypted, field-based format which makes data capture from the consumer simple, intuitive and totally secure. As such it avoids the problematic approach of trying to create the internet experience on the mobile phone. Unlike WAP- or Java-based services, SAMS is not dependent upon GPRS and is therefore particularly well-suited to the developing world where the mobile phone is out-stripping the PC as a communications device. Additional products include Acquire, a user-friendly data capture solution and MyOperator, a mobile network proposition for secure handset-based services such as registration and pre-pay top-up.
