Telecare, Assisted Living, Remote Wellbeing are all phrases being used to describe the new area of mobile health.   The MDA Mobile Health Special Interest Group has been created to bring together companies, academia and medical workers in this area to help develop end to end applications in this emerging market.

The driving factors behind Mobile Health have been widely discussed - particularly the impact of an ageing population and the desire to allow patients to manage their health in their own homes.  Equally important are the many other aspects of care provision and lifestyle enhancement that can come from applying mobile technology.

The development of Mobile Healthcare requires the mutual involvement of a number of diverse organisations - healthcare workers and institutions, medical device manufacturers, wireless connectivity specialists, network operators, database experts and the patients themselves.  This group aims to provide a meeting place and information to foster these relationships.
